Cherry Country Kitchen

We just finished remodeling a great kitchen in the historic section of Milford, Ct. The cabinetry is made by Starmark. It is a cherry wood and designed as a country style kitchen. This kitchen could also be considered as a traditional style. To make the kitchen look a more country style, country accessories are added. This includes the porcelain farmhouse sink and the ceramic backsplash. Enjoy.

Double Ovens without Sacrificing Countertop space

Double wall ovens are great, but in this case, they would have taken away too much valuable countertop space.  However, the homeowner wanted two ovens. Here is what we did.

Two wall ovens were placed in base cabinets.  The result is both functional and beautiful.  As a bonus, it actually reduced the cost of the cabinetry.  Better design, less cost; how could this homeowner not love our solution!

Waterfront Condo "The Bachlerette Pad"

Our client purchased a new condo unit but didn't like the design or quality of the existing kitchen.  Fresh kitchen ideas were needed!  She wanted an open, airy floor plan that would complement the beautiful ocean view from the breakfast area.  The ceilings were tall so the cabinets did not need to extend to the ceiling.  This helped create the openness tha she wanted.

To pull the feel of the ocean, our designer chose a pearl color for the island.  This is a standard color in our Starmark line.

She will be enjoying her Bechlerette Oad for years to come.

Spacious Kitchen

This client came to us looking for a fresh spacious feel to their kitchen.  They were a young professional couple looking for clean lines and a sophicitated look.  We had very little design limitations and spce was not an issue.  The designer chose the island to be the focal point of the room.  Minimalistic kitchen designs are very trendy with todays young adults.  Little clutter and less detail offers a clean and inviting look and feel.

This is a great design for today's life style.

Raised Ranch Remodel

Recognize this layout?

Most people won’t.  It is a raised ranch.  Raised ranches tend to have very tight-closed in kitchens.  That was exactly what this homeowner wanted to change.  Here’s what we did.  The interior walls of the kitchen were removed  to create an open floor plan.  Next, we designed and installed a large island.  The island serves two purposes: 1) it is a great gathering and eating area, and 2) it acts as a demarcation point for the kitchen.  For those of you who have a raised ranch, this is a great idea.

White Kitchen with Dark Island

The kitchen in this shoreline home has an airy, spacious look and feel to it. The exterior white cabinets and the light colored countertop help achieve this. This room is grounded by the large dark island which stands as a focal point in the room. The cooktop was placed in the island to help un-clutter the perimeter countertops.

In this kitchen, the island serves as the third point of the traditional kitchen working triangle. This makes the work space extremely efficient

Corner Sink Solution

Making use of dead space in a corner is one of the best ways to make a kitchen more functional. Here, the sink is moved from under the window and placed in the corner of the peninsula. This created a better work space around the sink and eliminated the need for a blind corner cabinet. Blind cabinets are corner cabinets that do not wrap around the corner.  Instead they create a blind dead space.  Sometimes the use of a blind base cabinet cannot be avoided.  However, whenever a blind base cabinet can be removed I recommend it.

Corner Cooking Area Solution

Dark cherry cabinetry and dark granite countertops always make for a classic look. This is a small kitchen and we had to be creative to maximize the wall space. Two problems existed: 1) the window could not be moved due to budget,  and 2) a staircase to the right (not viewed) prevented us from placing the appliances on the right hand wall.

To solve this, we decided to place the range in the corner of this kitchen.  This created a very interesting look while also solving a very serious problem for this kitchen.

Quarter Sawn Oak Island

Many older homes have beautiful oak millwork.  This house was no exception.  It has an oak mantle and built-in bookcases in the adjacent room.  We decided to tie the two rooms together by incorporating a quarter-sawn oak island in the kitchen.  The inset shaker style cabinetry created the  custom furniture look necessary to match the period look of the mantle.

White Beadboard Paneled Inset Kitchen

A beadboard paneled inset door was perfect for this home near the shore. Here is a classic look but we added a twist.  For this kitchen, the designer felt that the beadboard for the upper cabinetry would be too overpowering for the room.  By choosing to use a complementary flat panel for the upper cabinets, the kitchen became a less busy and the cabinetry was no longer overpowering.

Not all the cabinet doors need to match. But, there should be some commonality between them.  In this case, all the doors have the same framing and inside profile.
